Fasting 6 Days Of Shawwal

Fasting is an essential part of Islam. Muslims are supposed to fast during the month of Ramadan. However, there are times when Muslims are allowed to break their fasts. This article will discuss the fasting days in the month of Shawwal.

There is no way to compare Shawwal with Ramadan's glory, but it still has importance and dignity. Additionally, fasting during Shawwal provides an opportunity to break the fast on six days. Fasting during this month helps us become more pious and aware of our sins, and it also teaches us about patience and humility. Muslims are also encouraged to give charity during Shawwal, as this month is considered a time of generosity.

Hadith (PBUH) on the Fasting in the Month of Shawwal:

It is a Hadith that is reported from Abu Hurairah that he said: The Messenger of Allah (ï·º) said: "Whoever fasts Ramadan and then follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is as if he has fasted for the entire year."

This Hadith exemplifies the importance of fasting in Shawwal. All Muslims should know about this Hadith to be encouraged to follow this Sunnah and make their fasting during Shawwal more complete.

This Hadith shows how important it is to follow the Sunnah of sitting for tahajjud. Properly following this Sunnah is beneficial. For example, it helps to train the soul and strengthens a person's devotion to Allah. 

Al-Nawawi saying about Shawwal:

" Scholars have explained that it is like observing a year of fasting because the reward of one's good deeds is multiplied 10-fold. Therefore, fasting the month of Ramadan is like fasting for ten months, and fasting six days in the month of Shawwal is like fasting for two months."

Is it obligatory to fast in Shawwal?

There is no obligation to fast in Shawwal. It is the Sunnah and depends on a person's observance of Islam. Some believe that fasting during the month of Shawwal is obligatory, while others feel it is only recommended.

Fasting during the month of Shawwal has many benefits, including devoting more time to prayer and reflection and reducing one's intake of food and drink. It is also said to improve one's mood and reduce stress levels.

Virtues of fasting for six days:

Fasting has many virtues, such as helping to reduce stress and improving one's mood. It can also help to improve one's concentration and focus. Fasting can also help reduce the amount of food that one consumes, leading to weight loss. Fasting can also help to improve one's overall health by promoting better digestion and increased levels of antioxidants in the body.

What Are the Feasts in The Month of Shawwal?

The month of Shawwal is when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. There are main obligatory fasting days during this month:

1.      The day of Arafa (the 10th day of Shawwal). It is the most important day of the whole month, and it commemorates the night when Prophet Muhammad received his first revelation from Allah Almighty. All Muslims are required to observe a fast on this day.

2.      The Day of Ashura (the 14th day of Shawwal). It is a momentous day for Shiites and commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, one of Prophet Muhammad's companions. Fasting on this day is compulsory for all Sunni Muslims.

3.      The Day of Iftar (the 15th day of Shawwal). This feast commemorates the Breaking of the Fast in the month of Ramadan. It is a time for Muslims to abstain from eating, drinking, and sexual activities from sunrise until sunset. During this day, people usually exchange gifts and visit friends and family.
