Tarawih is an Islamic night prayer that is offered during Ramadan. It is an essential prayer for Muslims and is usually done before sundown.

What is Tarawih?

Tarawih is a prayer that Muslims offer in the month of Ramadan. Muslims believe the Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad in Ramadan, and so they also believe that reciting it during this month will have a unique effect on their souls.

The Tarawih prayer is performed at night after Isha (night) prayer. The number of rakahs (units) performed during Tarawih depends on how much time one has before the start of Fajr (dawn).

Why Is It Important to Offer Tarawih?

Tarawih is an integral part of the Muslim religion. It is a time for Muslims to offer night prayers to Allah. It is a time when Muslims can focus on their spirituality and pray for the forgiveness of their sins.

To offer Tarawih, one must have completed the daily five prayers and be in ritual purity. The prayers are offered at night, after sunset and before dawn, with each prayer being recited twice in succession.

Muslims believe that Tarawih was first practised by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions during Ramadan in the mosque of Medina.

How Is Tarawih Offered?

The Tarawih prayer is offered in the evenings of Ramadan. It can be offered in the congregation or privately.

In the congregation, there are two types of Tarawih prayers:

  • The Tarawih prayer with a sermon

  • The Tarawih prayer without a sermon.

The time for the Tarawih prayer with a sermon is 20 minutes, and the time for the Tarawih prayer without a sermon is 10 minutes.

What Are the Benefits Of Offering Tarawih?

Tarawih is an optional prayer that Muslims are encouraged to perform during Ramadan. The Tarawih is a voluntary prayer practised in the month of Ramadan. It is performed at night, after the evening prayer and before the morning prayer.

The benefits of Tarawih are immense. One of them is that it helps increase one's spiritual connection with God and repent for their sins.

It is a particular time for worshippers to get closer to Allah, and this can do by reciting the Quran.

Some benefits of offering Tarawih are:

  1. A sense of peace and tranquillity
